Frequently Asked Questions

Everything international patients ask before booking — answered honestly.

Is the clinic suitable for international tourists?

Absolutely. Smile Phuket Dental Clinic was designed with international patients in mind. We are located in central Patong Beach — Phuket's most visited area — and our entire team communicates in English. We are experienced in coordinating treatment around travel itineraries, providing detailed treatment records for your dentist at home, and supporting patients at every stage of their journey.

How long do treatments take? Can I get treated during a holiday?

Many treatments can be completed within a single visit or across a short trip. Teeth whitening takes 45 minutes. A CEREC same-day crown is completed in one appointment. Veneers typically require two visits 3–5 days apart. Implants involve two stages: the implant placement, and the crown fitting 3–6 months later (many patients return on a second trip for the crown). We will plan your treatment schedule around your available time.

Do you speak English?

Yes. All three of our dentists — Dr. Nalinee, Dr. Somchai and Dr. Pranee — speak fluent English. Your consultations, treatment discussions and aftercare instructions will all be in clear, jargon-free English. Our reception team also communicates fully in English.

How do your prices compare to Western countries?

Typically 50–70% less than equivalent treatment in the UK, Australia or Western Europe. A single dental implant, for example, costs 35,000–55,000 THB (~£800–£1,300) at our clinic versus £2,500–£4,000 in the UK. We use the same premium-grade implants, porcelain and materials as top Western clinics — the savings come from lower operating costs and overheads in Thailand, not from cutting corners.

Do I need to book in advance?

We strongly recommend booking at least a few days in advance, particularly if you want a specific dentist or a same-day CEREC appointment. For urgent dental pain, we will always do our best to accommodate you promptly — please call us or use the chatbot on this website to enquire.

What happens if I need follow-up after I return home?

We provide a full written treatment record and X-rays (digital copies) for every patient — ready to share with your dentist at home. Our dentists are also available by email for post-treatment questions. We recommend patients have a follow-up check with their regular dentist within 6–12 months, and we provide all the documentation they will need. For implant patients, we coordinate the second-stage appointment for a return visit.

Is the clinic accredited? Are standards as high as in my home country?

Our dentists are all licensed by the Dental Council of Thailand, and the clinic adheres to Thai Ministry of Public Health standards for infection control, sterilisation and clinical practice. We use CE-marked and FDA-approved materials and equipment throughout. Mahidol University (where two of our dentists trained) is ranked among the top dental schools in Asia.

Does the clinic offer payment plans?

We accept cash (THB), all major credit cards and bank transfer. For larger treatment plans — such as full-mouth rehabilitation or Invisalign — we can discuss staged payment arrangements. Please raise this at your consultation and we will find a plan that works for you.

What is the CEREC same-day crown process?

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) allows us to design and mill a custom zirconia crown in a single appointment — no temporary crown, no second visit. Dr. Pranee begins by removing decay and preparing the tooth, then takes a 3D digital scan (no messy impressions). The scan is fed into our CAD/CAM software, the crown is designed on-screen and milled from a block of high-strength zirconia in around 15–20 minutes, then glazed, adjusted and cemented — all in the same sitting. The entire appointment typically takes 2–3 hours.

Can I get a full smile makeover in one trip?

In many cases, yes. A smile makeover combining whitening and composite veneers can be completed in as little as two appointments. Porcelain veneers require two visits 3–5 days apart for the lab work. If implants are part of your makeover plan, those require two trips (placement and crown fitting 3–6 months apart). Dr. Pranee will design a realistic timeline at your initial consultation based on your goals and travel window.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We offer a full range of paediatric dental services — check-ups, cleaning, fillings, fissure sealants and fluoride treatments — in a calm, child-friendly environment. Our team is experienced at putting young patients at ease. We recommend children's first dental visit by age 2–3.

What is the complimentary transfer service?

For patients whose total treatment cost exceeds 20,000 THB, we offer a complimentary return transfer from your hotel or Phuket International Airport to the clinic and back. Please let us know your accommodation details when booking and we will arrange everything. The service covers Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala and the airport — other areas on request.
